Pin-Up Dreams and Porcelan Skin

So, I have the “curves” I have the attitude and now I have the skin – thanks to Laura Chirstensen our medically trained Esthetician. She has worked on thousands of patients in New Orleans, and now in Connecticut. She has  helped them reverse signs of aging, photodamage, acne and many more skin issues. Laura will tell you that I had some of the worst skin she has ever worked on; I have  overheard describing it as “rhino skin.” I know she loves me, so I am going to assume that is a term of endearment. Laura has transformed this “rhino skin” into something I can be proud of. From Acutane to ageless. I love her for her dedication. If you have ever pictured “perfect skin” Laura’s face should appear in your head. Everyone thinks she lives in a cave – that is NOT true. My prim, proper, finishing school debutante grew up in Florida and spent many hours on the beach… Laura has dedicated her life to finding effective, realistic and scientifically based products (and treatments) that will not only treat your skin, but instead will transform it! Take it from “Casper,” it is possible!

All of that being said, I am ready to ‘get my pin-up on!’ I have bought a vintage wiggle dress, red peep toe pumps and I made a fabulous hair fascinator. Why you ask? Becuase you can’t possibly pay homage to the American Pin-up girls without these objects. Laura will be Marilyn Monroe that night, and given that I am a little more “vuluptuous” these days, I guess I am stuck with Jane Russell – you know  the one-  she did those 18 hour bra commercials of my youth… Short stick – again!

FUZION is hosting a great FREE event on March 24th – Ladies With An Attitude. We are gathering the greatest talent on Connecticut’s shoreline for one night to help you feel like a beauty queen. Fuzion’s 4 Recommendations

Okay, so our last post gave you a little introduction to the way the world has thought about beauty and aging. Don’t get us wrong, we don’t want to bum you out—we want to help you make healthy decisions that are right for your face.

By restoring ratios and redefining angles or re-volumizing areas of fat loss, we can help rejuvenate the aging face.

The ideal shap

Some wrinkles are formed because of muscle actions and others are formed through environmental factors. During the progression of these wrinkles, the face begins to lose that ideal shape. Unfortunately, this downward progression is usually more evident in the female face.

Take a look—the face in the photo changes from the ideal upside down triangle to a trapezoid due to sagging skin and cheek tissue.

So, I’m sure you’re thinking, “I thought she wasn’t trying to bum me out?” And you’re right. FUZION actually has the answers. Our professional, medical staff can evaluate your face and provide our expert recommendations.

Your Aging Face

However, we do have 4 excellent suggestions that most people looking to have an impact on the aging process may want to consider:

  1. Medical Grade Retinol
  2. SPF sun screen- EVERYDAY (even cloudy ones)
  3. Growth factors PSP/TNS
  4. Anti-oxidants like Vitamin C!

Those 4 steps are just some of the useful recommendations we have for you. So keep checking back with us because the next posts about facial aging will outline even more solutions available at FUZION!

Cortisol and Your Skin…

The holiday season is here! And while we enjoy the camaraderie, giving, receiving and joy, we tend to focus on the never ending to-do list – the cooking, baking, preparing and getting everything just right – only to step back from the mirror to gaze upon the look of neglect. Staring back at us is a tired, wrinkled, puff-eyed face that is supposed to be in a holiday dress smiling like June Cleaver by the end of the week.

There are scientific explanations for why our skin goes berserk at times. A large cause is the stress hormone cortisol, which is responsible for blood pressure regulation, immune function and inflammatory response. During times of chronic stress, like the holidays, cortisol can reach prolonged high levels, causing impaired cognitive function, elevated blood pressure, blood sugar imbalances and breakouts. Add cold weather and dry indoor heating, and a plan for healthy skin becomes imperative.

Your skin care regimen does not need to be elaborate or costly, but it does need to include a few specific medical ingredients that are proven to improve skin. As we say over and over – you don’t need 12 steps, you just need 3 good ones!

If you are not sure where to start, make your appointment for a complimentary skin care consultation and I will help you through the process. See you soon! Laura Christensen, Medical Aesthetician at FUZION Medical Aesthetic Boutique

GET NAKED!

Time to go to your dermatologist and get naked! May is National Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month. Everyone should have a full body exam annually to check for skin cancer. But, that’s not all. Sun damage, rashes and fungal infections can also be prevalent on the back, scalp, feet, and areas where the sun don’t shine. Many skin conditions can be hereditary which means that they can appear anywhere.

Remember, your skin is a living, breathing organ and should be treated with the love and care that it needs to provide you with a lifetime of glowing protection. So, go to your dermatologist and get a full body check, it may actually save your life!
